The winners of the 2008 Sydney Theatre Awards were announced on Monday 19 January.
 
The Women of Troy took out four awards including Best Mainstage Production, Best Direction for Barrie Kosky, Best Sound Design or Score for David Gilfillan and Best Actress for Robyn Nevin. STC Resident Designer Tess Schofield was awarded Best Costume Design for The Great and Nick Schlieper Best Lighting Design for The Serpent's Teeth. Yael Stone was named Best Newcomer for her performances in both the Wharf 2LOUD production, Frankenstein, and Griffin Theatre Company's The Kid.
